Where does your free Auckland pick-up/drop-off service operate from?
Generally, our free service will pick you up from an area within Orewa in the North and Pukekohe in the South. Outside these areas it may be possible with an additional surcharge. We will provide you detailed timings and options in your itinerary.
Who are the tours for and what age?
Our tours cater to the 60 plus traveller. We have clients from 60 through to 80 years of age and sometimes in the 90s.
How many people on the tours?
Generally, our tours run with a minimum of around 12-15 people and on average we have around 20-22 people on our tours. A few tours may have up to 30 people.
What size is the coach? Is there a toilet on the coach? Do we stop often?
The size of the coach can vary depending on our final number booked (we adjust the coach size accordingly) so for a group of 30 we would normally have a coach size of around 45 seats, groups of around mid-20’s we would have a 32-seat coach, so there is always plenty of room. The coach generally doesn’t have a toilet on board although we do make frequent stops for a break/toilet stop.
What size bag can I take?
You can take a normal travel bag up to 23kg per person. We do have porterage included at the hotels, but on some occasions you may need to be able to carry/wheel your luggage.
What is the dress code on the tours?
Layers are always a good idea so you can adjust depending on the weather. Bring a jacket (if it’s cold) and good walking shoes. Dress how you would normally dress and how you feel most comfortable. Smart casual for evenings dinners.
What happens if I must cancel, do you refund me?
Please refer to our “terms and conditions” page on this site. The cancellation terms are specific to the tour they are booked. On domestic tours if you cancel outside 90 days of travel, you lose the $250 deposit or we can hold the deposit in credit to use towards a future tour.
Do I have to take insurance?
Insurance is not compulsory, but it is highly recommended as it could cover if you had to cancel due to anything unforeseen reason. Currently most insurance policies have provisions to cover you if you get Covid 19 and are not able to travel. Note: Insurance doesn’t always cover pre-existing medical conditions – this is case by case for each customer.
Can I be matched up with someone, so I don’t have to pay the single supplement?
Most companies won’t share people up, but if we have another person interested in sharing, we will contact both people and put them in touch with each other so they can have a conversation to see if they get on. If we don’t have anyone to match you up with, the single supplement applies.
Is there much walking involved? What fitness level do I need.
There is always some walking involved however if you are not able to do something on tour, please let your tour leader know. Bringing a walking stick or hiking pole is welcome. You will need to be able to climb the steps into the coach with only light assistance. Please call us for a chat if you have any concerns and we can talk in depth about the itinerary you prefer and whether it is a good fit. We are unable to take mobility scooters or wheelchairs on our coaches. If you need personal support we recommend you travel with a family member or companion. Please look for our 'Tour Activity Level' information for each tour, which outlines the level of fitness and mobility.
Do you have tour activity guidelines?
Yes we have three levels. 1. A moderate level of mobility is required. Get on and off coaches, trains or boats. Some steps and walking short to medium distances. 2. A higher level of mobility is required. Walking for 1-2 hours over a day and covering longer distances. Possible uneven terrain. 3. A higher level of fitness is required. There will be quite a bit of walking over a day. The terrain at times may be uneven and there may be high temperatures or humidity. These Activity Levels are for general advice only. Please phone us for more specific guidance based on your own level of fitness and mobility, and your chosen tour. We’re happy to help!
Does the coach have a kneeler?
Where possible we try to make sure the coaches can "Kneel Down" or "Lower" for ease of entry, but we can’t always guarantee this.
Do all the rooms have walk in showers?
Most of the hotels we use do have walk-in showers however some of the properties may not have them. Please request this on your booking form and we will see what we can do, although no guarantees.
Will there be just couples on the tour?
We get a mix of people on the tours of singles, couples and friends travelling. Often singles make up to 50% of the tour group.
