Dusty roads of old Fiji, snorkelling turquoise island lagoons, slurping fresh papaya and lime juice -they’re still bright memories of my first holiday abroad with Nana at the age of 12 years. That was just the start of a life full of inspiring journeys. As a fifth-generation New Zealander something of the adventurous spirit of ancestors seems to have been passed on and has taken me from Auckland to to the Arctic Circle, the United Kingdom to those of Africa, through Europe and South America, parts of Asia, America, Canada, Australia and most South Pacific islands.
Some travel came through my 40-years in photo-journalism - editorial, marketing and corporate sectors that offered diverse insights to the world and fed a desire to learn and see new things. Leisure time includes yacht racing, gardening, the arts, walking, travel and all things sybaritic!
Tour-guiding every day is different with new people, places and perspectives, fun and friendships. Whether it’s the comfort of a train journey, wandering through scent-filled gardens of England or glorious rhododendrons in Taranaki, climbing ancient stairs of a castle in Dunedin or Donegal - it’s the people and their stories who enhance journeys. I am excited to be part of the TravelWise team and look forward to helping create more holiday memories of a life-time for everyone.
