ITINERARY
Activity Level - 3. A higher level of fitness is required. There will be quite a bit of walking over a day. The terrain at times may be uneven and there may be high temperatures/humidity.

THU 09 OCT- AUCKLAND/SINGAPORE                

Depart at 3.10pm on Air NZ to Singapore. Arrive in Singapore at 9.00pm. 4 Star Hotel. Stay Singapore 3 nights.

FRI 10 OCT - SINGAPORE SIGHTSEEING  

A full day of sightseeing. Charming Joo Chiat & Katong, Changi village, Little India, the Merlion Park and Botanic Gardens. Visit Chinatown and later the fabulous Singapore Botanic Gardens. Included: B, D

SAT 11 OCT - SINGAPORE SIGHTSEEING    

Today a half day tour of Gardens by the Bay including entrance to the 2 flower domes. Free afternoon. Included: B, D

SUN 12 OCT - SINGAPORE/HANOI, VIETNAM  

Depart Singapore at 9.15am (SQ192) arrive Hanoi 11.25pm. Hanoi is a window to a world from long ago that has been dragged into the present. Welcome dinner tonight. Apricot Hotel. Stay Hanoi 2 nights. Included: B, D

MON 13 OCT - HANOI SIGHTSEEING            

A full day tour of Hanoi including ,Hoa Lo Prison (for prisoners of War during the Vietnam War), Uncle Ho Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, the Temple of Literature and after an included lunch, enjoy a Jeep tour to witness the lifestyle of the Hanoi people. Dinner at local restaurant tonight.

TUE 14 OCT - HANOI/HALONG BAY CRUISE  

Drive to Halong City Marina. Around midday board the 5 Star Heritage Cruises ship for a magnificent 2 night cruise of the natural wonders of Lan Ha Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago.  Enjoy an included afternoon tea and the chef will lead a Vietnamese cooking class. Enjoy the full ocean views from your private stateroom balcony. All meals included. Included: B, L, D

WED 15 OCT - HALONG BAY CRUISE  

Visit and enjoy lunch at traditional Viet Hai Village deep in the national park. Visit the Cat Ba Archipelago, cruise through Cai Beo floating village and then on to Ba Trai Dao beaches. Included: B, L, D

THU 16 OCT - HALONG BAY/HANOI/HUE    

An early morning visit to Dark and Bright Cave to enjoy the sparkling stalactites then breakfast on the ship. Free time and then Brunch onboard ,then late morning disembarkation and then transfer to Hanoi Aiport for your flight to Hue. Arrive Hue.

FRI 17 OCT - HUE SIGHTSEEING  

A full day city tour including Hue’s Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City.  A Perfume River boat trip, Tu Duc Tomb & Khai Dinh Tomb - the most expensive and beautiful tomb in the Nguyen dynasty. Included: B, L, D

SAT 18 OCT - HUE/HOI AN                                            

Drive to the ancient town of Hoi An. Stop at Lang Co beach and visit the incredible Linh Ung Pagoda. Lunch at local restaurant in Da Nang then into Hoi An via Marble Mountain. Historic hotel. Stay Hanoi 4 nights. Included: B, L, D

SUN 19 OCT - HOI AN - FULL DAY TOUR                    

Explore the incredible sights of Hoi An, by jeep and river boat. Including a Water Coconut Palm Forest visit, a Tra Que village lunch, a stroll through Hoi An ancient town, and a visit to the  History Museum and local market. Then dinner at a local restaurant tonight. Included: B, L, D

MON 20 OCT - HOI AN  - HALF DAY TOUR  

Visit Hoi An’s colourful main market, then a leisurely cruise along the river to the Cooking School. On arrival, we explore the school’s herb garden. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – the Red Bridge chefs first demonstrate each dish before we prepare the same dish ourselves and then we sit down an enjoy the food! Included: B, L

TUE 21 OCT - HOI AN FREE DAY  

Free day to explore or relax in the resort. Included: B

WED 22 OCT - HOI AN/SAIGON  

Free morning then transfer to Da Nang airport for a short flight to Saigon. With over eight million inhabitants and four million motorbikes, Saigon is truly a city that never sleeps.  Grand Saigon Hotel. Stay Saigon 4 nights. Included: B, D

THU 23 OCT - SAIGON SIGHTSEEING    

Our tour takes in some of Saigon’s most historic landmarks including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office (1891) and the former Presidential Palace, the headquarters of the Saigon Government during the American War. Later visit the War Remnants Museum for a vivid perspective of the American War. (Please note that some of the displays are very graphic.) Afternoon is free. Included: B, L

FRI 24 OCT - SAIGON,MEKONG DELTA  

Drive to Ben Tre for a boat trip on a scenic tributary of the Mekong River, with a visit to a Brickworks, a coconut processing workshop, a family workshop making sleep mats and enjoying some fruit and tea. Take a biking trip through green rice fields and vegetable plains. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, take a rowing-boat along water palm creek then return to Saigon. Included: B, L, D

SAT 25 OCT - SAIGON, CU CI TUNNELS  

Boat transfer to Cu Chi Tunnels for a tour of the Viet Cong's renowned underground military network used in the Vietnam War. Back to Saigon - lunch at local restaurant then an afternoon walking and coach tour through the heart of Saigon’s famous and historic city landmarks. Included: B, L

SUN 26 OCT - SAIGON/SIEM REAP,CAMBODIA  

Transfer you to Saigon airport for your flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Arrive Siem Reap Cambodia, a bustling little town, bursting with a vast range of delicious restaurants to suit every taste, boutique shops and day and night markets.  hotel Shinta Mani Angkor. Stay Siem Reap 3 nights. Included: B, D

MON 27 OCT - SIEM REAP, ANGKOR TOUR  

Explore the incredible UNESCO world heritage complex inside the stunning walled city of Angkor, an ancient world of massive stone faces and evocatively striking temples. We'll take in the enigmatic Bayon, the mighty Baphoun Temple, Phimeanakas and the royal Palace enclosure, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Next stop is Ta Prohm, easily the most atmospheric, where you will love to linger, swallowed by the jungle looks very much in the same state as when the French explorers stumbled upon it more than a century ago. Lunch at a restaurant on site. Dinner at a local restaurant. This evening admire the Big Top performance of the Phare Cambodian Circus from the best seats in the house. Included: B, L, D

TUE 28 OCT - SIEM REAP, ANGKOR WAT

We continue visiting the Angkor Wat temple. Constructed in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II, it was dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu and later transformed into a Buddhist temple. Feast your eyes on the sight of main Temple. Discover its many galleries, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water and carved bas-reliefs. Climb to the holiest sanctuary at the summit of the temple, where you are rewarded with fantastic views across the entire complex and beyond. Included: B, L, D

WED 29 OCT - SIEM REAP/PHNOM PENH

Travel through the bustling countryside to Phnom Penh, the "Pearl of Asia". Venture out of Siem Reap and travel through the Cambodian countryside stopping en route near Kampong Kdei at the 12th century Angkorian era ‘Spean Praptos’ bridge, marvel at this architectural feat as you take a walk in the past across its ancient arches. Then stop at Skuon market, for the adventurous try the ‘ch’ngain’ (deep fried Tarantula), a local speciality. Lunch at a local restaurant on the way. Arrival Phnom Penh, check in and relax.  Known as the "Pearl of Asia" Phnom Penh was considered one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indochina in the 1920s. Located at the confluence of the Mekong, Bassac and Tonlé Sap rivers, Cambodia's fascinating and colourful capital has an engaging mix of ancient traditions, colonial charm and bustling markets. Dinner at local restaurant. Palace Gate hotel. Stay Phnom Penh 2 nights. Included: B, L, D

THU 30 OCT - PHNOM PENH SIGHTSEEING  

In the morning visit the infamous Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and as you tour the museum, you’ll discover the brutality of the Khmer Rouge documented in the photos and memorabilia, including torture instruments and will have the opportunity to meet one the few survivors of regime. Continue to Choeung Ek Killing Fields, the final destination for prisoners from Tuol Sleng. A large stupa (shrine) filled with over 8,000 human skulls acts as a memorial and grim reminder of the atrocities. After lunch at local restaurant, tour around the Royal Palace, home to the Silver Pagoda, named for the over 5,000 heavy silver tiles that cover its floors, where you can marvel at the collection of Buddha’s in gold, silver, crystal, and bronze. FRI 31 OCT - PHNOM PENH/AUCKLAND

Transfer to Phnom Penh airport. Depart at 2.05pm on SQ155 via Singapore to Auckland. Included: B
